The advances of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are leading to substantial changes in the teaching-learning process. In particular, teachers are beginning to incorporate various digital tools and web applications in the classroom in order to facilitate the assimilation of knowledge and the development of skills in students.
It is worth mentioning that this book is aimed at teachers, students and the general public interested in the topics of Educational Technology and Information Technology. It is important to explain that there are few mixed investigations dedicated to the study on planning, design, construction and implementation of web applications in the educational field related to the topics of statistics.
This book presents the analysis, design and evaluation of the impact of the Web Tool for the Educational Process on Probability (HEP) in the Basic Statistics Applied subject during the 2017 school year. In Chapter 1, the use of the TPACK model in the Probability teaching unit is described through Technological, Pedagogical and Disciplinary Knowledge.
In Chapter 2, the design of the HEP is presented considering the criteria of Software Engineering. For example, the diagrams of Packages, Use Cases, Activity and Communication allow to organize the audiovisual contents on the Probability of events, union, intersection and conditional.
In Chapter 3, the organization and construction of the HEP is described through Nielsen’s heuristic rules (web usability), which allow the creation of a quick, simple and useful interface.
In Chapter 4, the impact of HEP during the educational process on probability is analyzed considering the aspects of the TPACK Model, Software Engineering and Usability.
Chapter 5 shows the predictive models of the use of HEP in the teaching-learning process about probability through the decision tree technique.
There are few models in the educational field that use pedagogical, technological and disciplinary knowledge during the incorporation of ICT in the classroom.
In particular, this book through the HEP promotes the use of the TPACK frame of reference to facilitate the organization, construction and implementation of web applications.
Finally, this quantitative and qualitative research proposes the planning and creation of web applications considering technological knowledge (HTML and PHP programming language), pedagogical (simulation strategy) and disciplinary (probability issues) in order to develop competencies of the students.
